Lake Effect Snow...Winter's Here

What do you get for living East of the Great Lakes?

Weather Warnings like this....

...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST
TUESDAY...
* LOCATIONS...THE NORTHWEST MOUNTAINS...ESPECIALLY THE SNOW BELT
AND AREAS WEST OF WARREN.
* HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW.
* ACCUMULATIONS...TOTALS OF 8 TO 12 INCHES BY TUESDAY EVENING.
* TIMING...THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING

Good things come to those who wait, isn't that how the saying goes?

*Good* for the folks that ski, plow snow and purchased new snowmobiles for winter, that is!

Me...not so much..I don't like shoveling it, driving in it or plowing it.
It is pretty to look at though.

Starting tomorrow, things will return to "normal" around here..
school will be back in session (unless there's a snowday)

The decorations will start coming down now that the last of our Christmas Gatherings is over.
My sis & #2 brother's families were here yesterday, we had a nice time.

great nephew...Sawyer J

nephew Travis(in back) and great nephew Brendon

New Year's Eve hubby and went I to our friends' camp to ring in the new year.
(I acutally made it to midnight, LOL, yea, I'm gettin' old)

Today we are going to hunker down and Let it Snow!

Stay In, Stay Warm and Stay Safe,
Traci

  1. We have a snow warning here in northeast Indiana too! Good timing cause I can use that extra day (from school delay or closing) to get everybody back into the NORMAL routine.

  5. LOL Traci...One thing I don't miss about living off the lake are those Lake Effect reports in the winter..Sometimes I'd wake up to my van buried & snow drifts to the top of the doors. One of the reasons I come south in the winter, I'm no good at shoveling 10 feet of snow at my doors..Don't much like it either..
WE did wake up to a dusting of snow here today..which will make my neice really happy..as for me I was enjoying the unseasonaly warm wether we were haiving..
Sounds like you had a nice new years Eve...hopefully your New Year is wonderful!

  9. Hi Traci,
Snow may be pretty but I sure dont want any of it!!
We woke up to some a few days ago but luckily the sun came out, it warmed up and melted all away.

It has been crazy weather here in S.IL.
60 one day, then 30 the next, then back to high 50's, etc... No wonder everyone is Sick around here. :)

Wishing you and yours a Fabulous and Blessed New Year!
    Hugs,
    Tam

  10. Oh boy, get out the sleds and inner tubes and build a big bonfire for a sleigh riding party. That's what we did when I was a teenager. It was crazy fun. We always went driving in the snow storms too. It was beautiful and we lived in the country. Would I do all that today? Uh, no :o)
    Stay safe Traci.

    Hugs~Carol

  13. I think our winter has begun as well...we've had snow the past 3 (or is it going on 4?) days - and horrid winds (surprised to see there's actually any snow that hasn't been blown 3 states away!) Stay safe and warm and cozy....It's still Christmas in my world....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
