Homemade No Melt Bird Suet

This is a recipe that I make lots of every winter. The birds love it and it's easy to whip up.

No Melt Peanut Butter Suet

1 Cup Crunchy Peanut Butter
1 Cup Lard

2 Cups Oats
2 Cups Cornmeal
1 Cup Flour
1/3 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Birdseed

Over low heat, melt the lard and peanut butter together. Mix all the other ingredients in a medium bowl. When peanut butter mixture is melted, pour over dry ingredients and mix well. Press mixture into a pan (I use 2 bread pans per batch). Place in freezer until firm, remove from pan and cut into desired sizes.

Feathered Friends Pinecone Treats

If you like to feed the birds, here's a little treat that you can whip up for them. My daughter and I make them every winter and the little birds go crazy, it's something fun and safe to get the little ones involved in.

Peanut Butter Pinecone Treats
Medium Sized Pinecones (however many you want to make)
Jute or Twine for hanger
Peanut Butter (crunchy or creamy, I buy the cheap stuff for this)
Birdseed
**********Simply tie a hanger around the base end of the pinecones with your jute. Spread your peanut butter all over the pinecone from the hanger down (if your doing many cones, I just use my hand). Then, roll them into the birdseed, be sure to apply a little pressure when doing this, it will help get the birdseed into the nooks and crannies.

Now hang them outside for your Feathered Friends. These treats would also make great Natural gifts for children to give to for Christmas! Simply bag them in a clear bag with a festive bow.

It's December and you know what that means....

It's time for the hussle and bussle of Christmas. I really love Christmas, don't get me wrong but I really don't like all the hub-bub surrounding it. How bout you?

You would not believe the weather that we are having here in Pennsylvania. I think Mother Nature is making up for the unseasonably cold and wet summer she handed us, LOL...
