~ Primitive Treasures & Please say a Lil' Prayer ~

If you would please say a little prayer for my
Maygan girl,

she took a terrible spill on her bicycle last night.
She is okay,  luckily she was wearing her helmet
all banged up, cut up and bruised
she's sore today.

I know she will heal but I don't like to see my baby hurting
I feel absolutely horrible as all I could do was watch it happen
we were riding together down a dirt road, on our way to the Dairy Queen
loose gravel and she was afraid to use her brakes...it was a really bad fall, she was going sooo fast...
her helmet has cracks in it

I prayed all night for her and wished I would have never had the idea to take that ride.  But also know that that an angel was watching her for it could have been far worse.

And, thank the good Lord the neighbors on Crippin Hill just so happened to be visiting their farmhouse that day, picked us up, took us to their house to clean her up, then brought us home.

.........................................

Now, onto some better news...

I picked this Writing Desk up at an auction for $5.00 a few weeks ago
it used to have a stand I think but I will use it atop one of my prim tables

I didn't want to get rid of the imperfections (that's what I love so about old stuff)  -- I just scrubbed it real good this morning, applied
a coat of Dark Walnut stain and will wax it later
If I can find an old piece of hardwood, I may make a replacement fold-down door for the front

Before

Large Cheesebox
same auction $2.00

Oh, and how do you like my new ride?
Prim broom, purchased at a market for $1.00

Input needed on this piece
I bought this antique tabletop at an antique shop recently
above are the makings of a Sawbuck Table I started yesterday
I haven't put the cross pieces on for the "trough" underneath yet
I think the legs look too bulky, but it may just be me.
What do you think?

I will sand and stained the top, the base will be painted and distressed in the end....

Thank you for stopping by today!
Blessings,
Traci

  1. Oh your poor baby girl. I pray that she recovers from her injuries quickly. I hurt just thinking about it.

What fabulous goodies you have there Traci! That writing desk is just beautiful. I like your table too. I think once you have everything together on your table it will fit together nicely. Staining the top is a perfect idea and painting the legs will just set it off.

Take care of your baby and have a great week.
    Hugs,
    AMY

  4. Hi. This is my first visit to your site and I love it! -- I just prayed for your lil Maygan. That the Lord would ease her hurts today and that she mends really quickly. Bet that was awful seein her fall like that. My dear husband and I ride motorcycle and I always get that funny feelin in my tummy when we have to go on a gravel road. It just feels so unstable. That feelin welled up in me as I read how your lil girl crashed. I'm so glad she had a helmet on. Bless her lil heart. Bless her Mommas lil heart! I hope you still got a treat at DQ!

  6. Hi Traci, So gald Maygan is alright, and she was wearing a helmet. I know how you feel, my oldest son when he was growing up took a bad spill while riding over the handlebars, not wearing a helmet, they didn't really use them that much back then, he still has a bump on his head. Think it shook me up more than him, being a mom sometime is nerve racking. Will keep Maygan in my prayers. Love the writing desk, you got a steal on that one. Take care, Hugs Vicky

  9. Oh poor, sweet, Maygan!! Prayers and gentle hugs for her!! Wow - reading about that zapped me back in a flash to my youth, bicycles and gravel roads...For all their charm and beauty, those roads can wreak havoc on a young body....Hope she mends and heals quickly...doesn't sound like she got her DQ treat, huh? Maybe tonight you can drive her there! Love your little writing desk - and your table! I think the legs are in perfect proportion to the table!! Can't wait to see THAT finished up! Have a good Wednesday....Snow Dog sends (messy) puppy kisses to Maygan! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  10. Oh Traci, don't blame yourself. Youngsters are resilient and bounce back quick, but I know how you feel and it gave you both quite a scare. I had a few spills like that when I was a youngun and my kids did when they were little. Our gaurdian angels watch over us in times like these. I will pray for her to be brave:)
Awesome old pieces, and I don't think those legs are too bulky;) I'd love to see it when you get it finished.

  11. I'm so sorry to hear about Maygan's accident.... saying a prayer for her fast healing! Reminds me of my Megan... many moons ago.... going head-first over her handlebars going down a hill in our neighborhood. She was probably about your Maygan's age -- thankfully she, too, was wearing a helmet, b/c the spill tore the buttons right off her shirt! She was very cut up on her face and was bruised from head to toe. Poor babies. Seems like almost a rite of passage.... this falling off our bikes. I fell, too, when I was young and still have the tar from the newly paved road in my knee! Hugs to her from cyber-friends!

Love your new finds!! And what great prices you got them for.... lucky gal! I, too, think the sawbuck table legs are just right. I quickly looked over at my table when you asked for thoughts and they are about the same size. Looking forward to seeing your items finished up!

    Have a lovely evening...
