and.........
have a SNOWCONE....on me
seriously though, this heat can be dangerous
remember our pets, the elderly and children
From the National Weather Service for our area today....
...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...
* TEMPERATURES...LOW TO MID 90S.
* HEAT INDEX VALUES...UP TO 104 DEGREES.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEATSTROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN POSSIBLE
AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK...THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY HEAT
SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE IS AN
EMERGENCY...CALL 9 1 1.
CHILDREN AND PETS SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN VEHICLES
UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE DURING HOT
WEATHER...WHEN CAR INTERIORS CAN REACH LETHAL TEMPERATURES IN A
MATTER OF MINUTES. RESIDENTS SHOULD CHECK UP ON ELDERLY RELATIVES
AND NEIGHBORS...AND REMEMBER TO PROVIDE PETS WITH ADEQUATE WATER
AND SHELTER FROM THE SUN.
Sweaty Hugs,
Traci

ReplyDeleteHi Traci~
ReplyDeleteHope you're staying cool today!!
Hugs~Becky
Wishing you cool breezes and gentle rains my friend...I think our heat wave has snapped. Things are much cooler today, although tomorrow they're saying close to 90 again - but then back to the upper 70's....will have to find my sweatshirt again!! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
ReplyDeleteExcellent reminder Traci. My daughter is a runner and I don't care that she's 28 and and "adult" I still harp at her about running in extreme temperatures.

I feel so sorry for the poor workers and animals outside. Stay cool. hugs, Lecia
ReplyDeleteThanks for the snow pic Traci and for the safety precautions - the heat catches up to us before we realize it. Important stuff to know & share! Thanks for being so caring ~*~Lisa
