I have a whole pile of prims to finish but I got a little side tracked and made my first Hooked Rug the other day. I think for the first attempt, it turned out pretty good. I used Black, Brown and Burgundy Wool strips and hooked on Burlap. The Crow and Star were drawn on the burlap by hand as I didn't have a pattern.
I have always wanted to try Rug Hooking but I didn't think I had the tools, nor did I want to buy a bunch of stuff to try it. Low and behold, I was digging around in some craft drawers and found a rug hook, I think I bought it at a sale a few years back just because it was a wooden handled tool, LOL, don't think I even realized it was a rug hook.
My Crow Rug is about 6" x 7"
I had fun making the first one so a started another, this will be a Willow Tree
Now, my only problem is I have no idea how to finish these rugs. Can anyone give me some advice on how to go about finishing the edges/back?
Oh, and you'll never guess what else I found while I was rooting around, a Punch Needle. Yep, so I just might have to give that a try too. I always say, I'll try anything once.
Have a Great Weekend! Traci
Awesome job Traci. I love crows and your rug is the best. I have wanted to try rug hooking for a long time but never have. I just may have to get on the stick and do something about it. Thanks for inspiring me.
