Wattle Fence...new in the garden

♥Happy Belated Mother's Day Greetings♥

I've been terrible about blogging as of late...  not much in the way of posting or visiting blogs

Yesterday I didn't have to worry about cleaning the house or cooking a meal (DH grilled a fantastic Mother's Day Dinner :)
so
I dove into my raised vegetable garden plot after we got the mowing and trimming done

First I tilled...soil all ready for planting
Transplanted some lettuce that survived the winter..almost enough for a fresh salad

Then I went to making a Make-Do Wattle Fence...I love fences and wanted something on the back side of the bed to support my sunflowers
it's a sparse Wattle to allow the sunlight through
Some seeds are in...Beans, Salad Greens, Spinach, Peas & Sunflowers
hope to get my Tomato, Pepper & Cucumber plants this week
I can already taste all the fresh veggies....!!  Tomato Sandwich..I am waiting for you

We have a bird family making their home in the garden bird house this year..no babies yet

Austin graduated college on Saturday...it was a huge ceremony
Empty seats awaiting the graduates
He's lost in the mix
Austin...we are so proud of you!!!

He is continuing his education...going on to get his Masters Degree

Blessings...Traci

  1. Sounds like a busy but delightful weekend Traci! Love your fence. Congrats to Austin on his graduation. It's hard to believe it's been a year since our youngest graduated from college...how time flies.
    Enjoy your week. Blessings

  2. Good Morning Traci Sweetie...
What a busy weekend you have had. First congratulations to your handsome son. What an accomplishment, and I see he graduated with honors as well. (Friday night our daughter graduated and she too graduated with honors) It is such a BIG step in their lives.

I love, love your garden. That wattle fence is the cutest darn thing I have ever seen. I so wish I could have a garden but here in the Phoenix desert, the water is to precious and it would cost to much to try and raise vegetables. We just do not have good soil. I can't wait to see your sunflowers and all your wonderful veggies come to life. I will be experiencing through you, so please share often.

Oh and I too love tomato sandwiches. Aren't they the BEST?

Have a glorious day sweetie. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  3. Love the new fence - wherever did you find branches long enough to weave them like that? I sure hope you'll remember to share another picture when the sunflowers are tall! We've decided not to grow a garden this year for the first time in 30 years! - the grass has been impossible to erradicate from the plot, so we're going to let it rest for the summer and will use Round-up several times to hopefully kill it good! Sure will miss my zuchinni, beans & corn though!

  5. Good Morning Traci, Glad to hear you had a great Mother's Day. Congrats. to Austin. Another milestone in his life. Loving your garden area. I have seen fences like that but didn't know what you called them. Learned something new today. I love it. Such a neat idea. We had green beans with runners already in our garden and a rabbit decided to make a late night meal the other night. Boy, was my Mister mad!! I'm with you, can't wait on my first juicy tomato sandwich. Have a great day.

  6. Good Morning Traci. Happy Belated Mother's Day to you also! I worked at the nursing home, so nothing special went on for my Mother's day.
The first thing I noticed was your wonderful black dirt in your garden, sigh! We have a clay ground here. We added a few loads of dirt in previous years and mixed it in with the garden soil. It's a little better than it was. I Love your little garden area and your wattle fence. I never heard of that kind of fence before, but I sure do like it! Congratulations to Austin! How exciting! I'm with you, can't wait for that Tomato sandwich, Lol! Have a wonderful day Traci!

Wow, another graduation and time to move up to bigger things in life.

  13. Happy Belated Mother's Day Wishes to you as well Miss Traci! Fun way to spend the day! And congratulations to Austin! Hmmmm....brains and looks - he's off to a great start! ;o) I adore your wattle fence... I'm 'bout ready to give up on gardening - I surrendered my larger garden plot several years ago (long story - wasn't properly prepared in the first place, too far from water source, then the son's shed came, etc.) I still have my teeny, tiny, herb square, and a little patch for perennials, but lost most all of the perennials this year with the freaky weather. So sad - some, like my cone flowers and yarrow, had been there for years..... Hope your week is off to a great start....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  14. I love your wattle fence! My sunflowers are so tall and loaded with blooms that they are leaning away from my fence so next time I will have to put a fence on both sides of them :) Congrats to your Austin also!
