Have you ever had a project that you never completed?
Tucked away and forgotten about...
FOR YEARS
Here is one of those projects of mine...unearthed while organizing after Christmas
Started so long ago that we will count in decades rather than years, LOL
An Elsa Williams ~ Crewel Embroidery Kit
started long, long ago........then forgotten
with Spring being the next season to welcome
and while in the midst of Winter
Let's see if I can finish this
The kit is called "Floral Festive" Bell Pull
so old it's out of print, unfinished
and already in need of repair (broken wool thread)
This is the work to be done.....not really that much
I figured instead of crocheting the winter evenings away (which is what I usually do
after Christmas), I'll put a few stitches into this project from time to time....
.
How many days til Spring?
Happy Stitches,
Traci
What beautiful colors Traci. You are so talented. How refreshing to work on a project full of wonderful flowers during the winter. I espcially love the Lilacs. -Steph-
ReplyDeleteI love the colors! It looks like a wonderful pattern!
ReplyDeleteYour work is beautiful and it looks like you've already put quite a bit of time into this project. Kind of like finding a bonus when you find those projects that are well underway. I know I have one or more of those lurking in the craft room somewhere...~Roberta
ReplyDeleteHi Traci :-) Yes, I've a few unfinished projects. Right now my brain is in a creative freeze. Either the Winter blues or burnt out. I'm hanging in there and waiting for a come back... lol.
ReplyDeletePretty Spring colors!
Hugs~Carol
Those colors caught my eye right away! So pretty on this gloomy winter day. Many years ago, I enjoyed working on these types of projects. I could tell right away it was an oldie but goodie!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it finished.
Enjoy~
What a Beautiful piece Traci. I Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly are talented. Looks like alot of work went into this already.
Can't wait to see it when it's all finished.
Yep, I have one in the form of cross stitch. It's here somewhere. I pull it out, try to do a few stitches. Mess it up. Rip out the stitches and then hide it for another year or two or three... *ahem*. I LOVE doing cross stitch, but for some reason that one pattern is just refusing to be finished. ;) (I think it's about 13 yrs old.)
ReplyDeleteYours embroidery piece is so colorful. It looks like something that would take a long time to do. My Granny used to do embroidery similar to that.
Have a wonderful day, Traci!
Traci your needlework is beautiful. Lori from Notforgotten Farm was doing a crewel piece also. I am addicted to cross stitch. I don't think I would have the patience for crewel. I can't wait to see it when you are done.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful breath of springtime.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and love with the finish.
Hugs Trace

That's a great find. It's going to be really pretty when you finish. I came across a candlewicking pillow kit from the early 80's that I never started. And I found an almost finished sampler that I did when I was 8 years old. I just didn't sign and date it, otherwise it's finished. It's fun to look back at what was "hot"
ReplyDeletein crafting.
Hi Traci, Looks like you have alot done. Very pretty colors...very springy!! Can't wait to see it done. I've done 4 pictures in the crewel work. Two are still hanging.

It's gorgeous. Can't wait to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Traci

Oh...I have a great many of those projects - but with a few differences: (1) mine are never that close to being finished (and are always less far along than I recall them being; (2) I don't usually truly "forget" about them - they have a nasty habit of marching through my weary brain on those all-too-oft nights that I don't sleep well; and (3) when I do get motivated to unearth them, I find that they are pretty dated and stylish....unlike your lovely and timeless piece. Crewel on my friend - you do beautiful work! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
