Our Family Christmas Tree & Favorite Ornaments

I can't seem to get a good shot of our Family Tree, no matter what camera settings I use, it's blurry.  So, here's a blurry shot of our Family Christmas Tree, LOL....  Maygan did 90% of the decorating this year, she did a wonderful job and is very proud of her tree.

This tree is loaded with colored lights (Maygan and her Dad's favorite) and ornaments that were made by the kids, received as gifts and collected over the years.

A few of my favorites are...

This Santa, made by Maygan in preschool

Clothespin Reindeer made by my step-son Austin when he was still in grade school.  He's a Junior in college now.

Construction Paper Mittens by Maygan

Felt handprint Reindeer by Maygan

Wooden ornament made by Jimmy

Pretty Doves from my Mom

Beaded Mice from my Sis, the tree skirt was made by my Mom

Maygan's ornament from her Meema

There are six of these little book ornaments.  I got them in my stocking when I was a kid, I thought they were the neatest.  I saved them all and now they are one of Maygan's favorites.  She reads them over and over every year.

I could go on and on with favorite ornaments, each and everyone has a special story.

My birthday cake from yesterday, decorated pretty by Maygan

I just love it!

The school cancelled all activities for the evening because of the weather, so Maygan didn't have her Christmas Concert.  We were all disappointed, hoping they reschedule.  Hubby picked up dinner on his way home from work, then we had cake and ice cream.

This is a sign that I bought for $1.00 at a second hand store in town, the stars and letters are carved out.  I  did sand and stain it for more of prim look.  I like the way it turned out and for a buck, you can't go wrong.

Have a Blessed Day,

It's like the movie--Groundhog Day

For the last few days, it seems like I am starring in the movie, "Groundhog Day".  I wake up in the morning to the same situation as the day before, LOL...   Wake up, make coffee, shovel snow, drink coffee, plow snow......repeat...

We have literally been dumped on.  I measured the snow depth yesterday and there is 26" of the White Stuff.  Can I say enough already!  That's in just 2 days.  We are supposed to get a slight break for 2 days (only a few inches of accumulation instead of feet) and then another front is coming across the lakes with more snow for us.  Santa won't have a problem getting here this year...

School is open today, we had Snow Days both Monday and Tuesday.

Today is my birthday, yes, another year older for me.  I am getting really, really close to the Big 40.

I will be baking a birthday cake today, Maygan (our family cake decorater) will put the finishing touches on it when she comes home from school this afternoon.  Then we will be going to school for her Christmas Concert this evening, she can't wait to wear her new dress and sparkley Red Shoes...

Well, I need a coffee refill, then I'll be back to read my morning blogs.

Woke Up this Morning to...........Snow Day

Here's what it looked like outside this morning at 6:30am.  We must have gotten between 12" - 15" of snow overnight.  Needless to say, It's a Snow Day...no school.

It's still snowing to beat the band, getting ready to plow with the 4 wheeler...

Old Man Winter Blanketing our Trees & everything else too....

I thought this was a pretty picture.  It's my Burning Bush that is covered with it's Red Winter Berries and Snow.

Have a Great Day Friends.....

More Christmas Decorating

I had a chance to take a few more pictures of my decorating.  I haven't photographed the main Family Tree yet.  This tree is "my tree", it is the Primitive Christmas Tree, decorated very simply.

Here's a different shot so you can see the decorations better.

This is my Dining Room Table this year.  A bowl filled with Evergreen, Red Berries, Snowballs and Deer Antler.

These pictures are of my Christmas Kitchen.

(That's some of Lori from The Black Crow's Coffee Mix in the jars)  If you haven't visited her blog, she shared the recipe for Fireside Coffee and it is delicious, I think I've made 3 batches so far!
Here's her blog, you'll love your visit!  http://loritheblackcrow.blogspot.com/

I guess that's it for now, I'll be back soon with some final pictures to share.

I am off to take pictures of some new primitives to list on my website later.  Some neat Snowmen, a Santa Wreath & more.....

Oatmeal Container Luminary

Maygan and I got crafty the other day and made some Oatmeal Container Luminaries.  I think they turned out really neat so I thought I would share the idea with you all.  This is a quick project to do with your children or grands and it's a good way of recycling those containers.

We started with large Oatmeal containers, peeled the label off and then I sanded the areas with glue a bit.

I made a paper template for tracing the hole which will be cut out.  I cut mine with a razor knife.  I found pictures online that we wanted to use.  I printed her's on plain white paper and mine on aged paper.  Hint - print the pictures on plain white paper, the light shines through them better in the end.

Then we got to painting them, I chose an Oatmeal color, Maygan chose Red.

After the 2 coats of paint dried, I roughed mine up with some sandpaper and then glued the picture on the inside with tacky glue.  I also antiqued mine with Antiquing Gel.

I used some stamps and tacky glue to make glittered stars around my container.  Maygan used stamps and ink for Candy Canes, Santas and a couple of glitter stars.

Here they are lit up with battery operated Tea Lights.  If you make one, please Don't use real Candles!

Blessings,

Christmas Decorating - Just Getting Started

I finally had to go to the doctor on Wednesday, my cold was not getting any better, but worse.  Well, it was no surprise that he told me I have Bronchitis, I've been fighting this thing for almost 2 weeks and am now on antibiotics, so I'm starting to feel better.   Thank goodness!

Just getting started with my Christmas Decorating!  The worst part is digging through totes and trying to decide what to use this year.....

I have a few pictures of my progress so far, still have a long way to go!  Haven't even unpacked the big Christmas Tree yet...

Hubby made this Tool Box in shop class in the 7th grade...

A couple outdoor pics.....

Here's my booth at the Craft Show last weekend...

Blessings,
